What a great start to term 3! It's great having new class members to share our learning for the rest of the year!
We have begun looking at our Olympic inquiry. We are pretty excited about what is to come!
End of Term 2!!
Golly! Someone pointed out to me yesterday that our blog hasn't been undated for a while, which is true! With the million and one things the Room 12 students aim to get through in the day, we have been a bit delayed in our regular updates!
What an exciting, busy term we have had! We welcomed two new teachers into our team this term, Mrs Pickford and Miss Elliot into Room 15. We were sad to say goodbye to Mrs Pickford this week, but we look forward to seeing her again we when get to Northcote Intermediate. Miss Elliot will be the full time teacher in Room 15 from term 3 onwards which is very exciting stuff, some people even think she looks a bit like Miss Deerness....
We had an awesome time on our trip to Kelly Tarlton's, although we were a bit gutted we had to cancel our trip to Goat Island, but you can't do much about the weather! We got to see all sorts of Marine creatures, including some MASSIVE stingrays, being hand feed by one of the feeders. We learnt lots of neat facts while we were there.
Some of us were part of JRock, and it was an amazing production. DVD's of the performance are available for sale at the school office.
The class room is looking amazing, due to all the hard efforts put into visual art this term. It makes for a great place to learn in. We have undertaken a very intensive writing programme this term, and are just finishing the final touches of our information reports. Do come in and have a read!!
Pretty soon, we will have to say goodbye to Miss Johnson, which will be very sad for both the students and Miss Deerness! We hope she comes back to visit us, and brings her baby in to meet us too!
It is very exciting to welcome some new students, yet familiar faces into Room 12, as the students from Miss Johnson's class will be working in new classes within the Kauri Team. We hope you enjoy working in Room 12 as much as we do!
We have had lots of sports field days and exchanges this term. Congratulaions to all the children who have participate in these events. You have done Northcote Primary proud in the way you have represented your school.
Next term we have lots of exciting things to look forward to. We have our school speech finals, cross country, an Olympics inquiry, the Life Education bus, Gymnastics and lots more to get geared up for.
The children will write their speeches during their holiday break. We have discussed the structure of a speech, aswell as brainstorming possible topics during class. Check out the Speech Writing page on our Wiki for more ideas.
I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable holidday. I know I will be!!!

Miss Deerness
Week 5, Term 2
In week 5 most of the students in room 12 were away at J-rock and Rippa\ Tackle. Miss Deerness was sick basically for the whole week, so on Wednesday we had Mrs Hope-Ede as usual but we had her on Thursday as well. On Friday however we had Miss Jones which was great. The J- rockers which is a dance troop had their performance on Friday it went really well it was great. This week in syndicate sports team A played Rippa and team B played kingaswellie and they won team A lost but it was a great fun. In the Rippa and Tackle tournament, we had lots of fun we all played three games. In our writing we started doing poetry our focus is similes we all created a poem about how we compeer our selves to other living thing or objects. We had half the class away and some students didn’t do any work on Thursday because they were away not sick but away. In conclusion we had a boring week because Miss Deerness was away. Week 4, Term 2
On Tuesday the Kauri Team played our first sports exchange against Saint Mary’s School. The NPSRipper Rugby hade 3 teams and Saint Mary’s only had 1 team, so only one of our teams got to play Saint Mary’s school and the other team hadto play them self which was not as fun as we thoughtit would be. We also played tackle Rugby, it was exiting and we ended up wining the game 70-26. They had some really big players that I could not get down. The backs got lots of the ball so it was easier to win the game. In soccer we lost all of our games so that was a big bummer. In Netball, team 3 won 15 4, team2 lost 34 0 and team 1 won 15 2 team 4 lost 8 0 but they still hade fun. We also played Tapuwai, we won one of the games and lost one to. Tapuwai looked pretty cool, as well as ripper rugby. And at the end of it we all hade lots of fun!!! By Lukas and Alex

We had Mrs Hope-Ede for the day. We had to do music, where we had to pair up in buddies and write a song with instruments together. Next up was the Kauri Assembly. We were told that the trip to Goat Island was going to be cancelled because of the weather L.We were also told about some other stuff. We also to a trip to the school library. Wednesday was WICKED. We got to choose what to write about in Arguments. One for, One against. After lunch, we had a very strange school assembly. It was all about TRAVELWISE-walking to school. We were honoured with Guest Stars-Maxx the Pukeko, Meagan the policewoman and Walking School Bus drivers. Here are some tips about Road Safety…
